You can search Nissan's website for the base model, and it will lead you to the dealer that has it.

Except that dealership might be thousands of miles away. Fact is you should be able to order that model from the factory and have it shipped directly to your local dealership.
I believe that the companies offering those base models should be legally bound to have them actually available for sale on order.
If they are not, it is bait and switch tactics.

I'm willing to wait for the car to be delivered from the factory, and the dealership should be willing to make the sale.

This [censored] is another reason why $tealerships are so greatly hated by consumers.

You do understand that if you could order the car directly from the manufacturer, it will be most likely at the "list price". I presume you are not of the type to pay the "list price" for a new car.

Some dealerships have now lobbied to make direct ordering illegal. That's true in Texas and South Carolina. They are trying to protect their old outdated model.

If I could not find a base car, and Nissan is not cooperative, I would negotiate to pay the list price advertised on the site ($11,900 + destination), on whatever model they have. If I end-up with a slightly better model at the same price, I'd be happy.

On the other hand, if they refuse, then I would hire the best lawyer in the US and sue for false advertising (marketing an $11,900 car that doesn't actually exist). Someone has to have the balls to stand-up to dishonest corporations..... as was the case with Leaf owners that sued Nissan last year.

Just to clarify....I am saying that a customer should be able to order the manufacturer advertised base model FROM THE DEALER and have it shipped to the same dealer that you order it from. Not a direct order from the dealer. Although I agree I despise the current $ealership model in the US.

Maybe or maybe not. For example maybe that pricier model has a sunroof, and I have a deep dislike for them because I have found them to be nearly certain problems just four years down the road of ownership. So I don't care if they offer that model to me at
"deal", it will end up costing me more down the road.

People want those low trim levels but the manufacturers and dealers don't want to sell them .....

I have to agree with this. I recently wanted tp test drive a Honda Accord 4 door 4 cylinder manual - and couldn't. Our local dealer doesn't bring them in except on special order.
