I don't know how old my bottle of Mobil is...

I recently purchased a Jug of Mobil Super 1000 5W-30. I have never used Mobil 1 Motor Oil before. I have heard very good things though. What I am inquiring about is how I would know what the manufacturing date is on my jug? I purchased it on sale at my local Canadian Tire, but it wasn't actually on the shelf. I had to ask an employee to see if it was still in stock. They found me one in the back room. My printed code on the jug is OEV15G20A B.09:05 00581- #8309 5912 Does anyone know how to decode Mobil 1's code? I wouldn't want to risk using something that might be very old stock. Thank you very much. Usually you can find an actual date but not on this one...

I believe it is July 20, 2015. From what I can tell they have a code at some point of the format YY M DD, where the month is a letter from A-L.

You should contact ExxonMobil then since the bottle is incorrectly labeled as "Full Synthetic Motor Oil."

I just bought a box of 0w20 Pennzoil Gold … best estimates are it's around half conventional and half synthetic (I'm waiting for Arco to verify)

No lawyer will touch Big Oil. You may have been fooled, but to prove the HARM. Tom - Call customer service and see what they say smile It would be like getting the wonderful gravy recipe from Guzzardi's They'll tell you something - anything to get you to go away and it will be all jibberjabber.

Incorrect. Quoting manufacture's advertising proves .... You second point is well taken. Motor oil is very stable when not in service.

I purchased Chevron Supreme 5 quart and there is no date code on them. I believe Chevron had the date on the case (box) originally. All companies have to be different. Wish there was a standard like food....... *I can only speak of the USA....

That is correct. The first three are plant code, then 2 digit year, Month letter, and date. I think it is A-M though, they skip the letter "I".

Non sense as usual and "Big Oil" is not big. There are successful judgements against "Big Oil" posted all over the web.

Thanks, did not know this. Marketing...and no I don't think I want to listen to a "politically correct" customer service response response to this! I have a fuel diluted I can use this oil in...with a 3000mi OCI. Tom,

Thanks for the info guys. I realize Mobil Super 1000 is a Conventional blend. It will eventually be going in my 2000 Corolla. So if the unopened Jug was most likely manufactured in July 2015, is it okay to still use? What is evreyones opinions on oils shelf life?

Not all 0W20 is synthetic. Honda 0W20 synthetic blend: https://www.amazon.com/Honda-Genuine-Fluid-08798-9036-Synthetic/dp/B007P5RFRO Pennzoil 0W20 synthetic blend: https://www.pennzoil.com/en_us/products/blends-conventional-oils/gold.html
