I didn't know these existed and now I want one. Mahindra Roxor

30k+ for model with AC does 55hp/144 torque seem low from a 2.7L turbo diesel?
also 3000lb+

Looks like an interesting vehicle.. but at 30k+ there is alot of competition.

Or just buy the real thing for less. Street legal as well.

I think that is close to the cutoff for not having def. It wouldn't need much since it is an off-road vehicle. Not ment to run 70mph down the highway and have a 3 second 0-60.

I've seen one on the road but most counties and cities around here allow side by sides now. They make you take a second look but look like it should be a DIY kit.

Chicken tax applied?
Mahindra is based in India and Chicken Tax is for Europe.
yeah except open to the elements with no ac or heat. If you go no AC you might as well buy a classic jeep you could drive on the road.
but I see the appeal.
My buddy's $48k CanAm doesn't have it either. My John Deere 825i was $19.7k (bought it used with 2hrs for 10k from a doctor) and doesn't come with anything different. 3500lb towing capacity and 2.7L diesel is awesome.

The 25% "chicken tax" was originally meant to target the pickup versions of the VW Microbus/Kombi, but it applies to all imported pickups (fully assembled when imported) and 2–door SUVs. That's why the Japanese pickups are built in North America. That's also one reason of many that we don't get the Mazda BT-50 here.

Sadly - not street legal. It sure is appealing, though…
Right, but only because of the rules that have been added since 1960 or so. If this was a 1960 model year Chevy, it would be perfectly legal.

God forbid you design an extremely cost effective vehicle people actually want to buy and own.

The tow rating is at 15 mph

Putting an old Jeep body on the frame is a popular modification. VIN # leads to street legal.
You can actually go to dirtlegal and get it handled for you. But in Tx we routinely drive miles in our UTVs on roads legally between the properties.
