The question is not how are they new, but how they perform after 20,000mls.

I can't say I've had any negative experience with GT Radial tires, in general they seem to know what they are doing, as they seem to end up on a lot of our work vehicles, from 3 seasons for cars, to LT snow tires, but that's no guarantee on these specific tires. It is name brand, as budget option.

Unpopular opinion but some should consider cutting Chinese manufacturing some slack as this is an old mentality. My Pilot Sport 5's are phenomenal. I also recently read Canadian Blizzak stock are being made there but I haven't seen proof of this myself.
Others here have mentioned it's all about the quality control these days, not the country of origin. I personally agree.
out of curiosity, why assume? does it not have a "made in xx" on the sidewall?
PS5 is made in China?
I think the Blizzak DM V-2 is made in China, while WS90 in Japan.
Kumho was also recently purchased by a Chinese company.

Kumho Chinese?I just found out the 3-peak mountain snowflake tires I put on my Miata, are manufactured by a company headquartered in India. I had no idea. The tires are branded by Vredestein, and made by their factory in Hungary. Good tires, good ratings from Consumer Reports who test them. I found this link in Wiki, on who makes what tire brand. I think, these days, it's not the brand name but the plant where they're made. Is it state of the art modern, or old school with old equipment.
I've had very good luck with Kumho tires, specifically their Korean made Solus KH-16 put on a Chrysler minivan years ago. The Wiki page shows they're a Chinese company now, as Camry man says. I'm fascinated by the many tire brands I see on the cars next to me in parking lots, and when I look up tires in vendor web pages like Walmart and Simple Tire. I won't discount a tire brand until I've done a little research into who they are and what they make.
