It's been 7 yrs since I came to the US, and have been living here with my wifey (American), and we started this long process 6 yrs ago, from permamnent residency (Green Card) onwards ...I applied for US citizenship March/08, and had my interview, and after a ton of paperwork (which all went smoothly) I finally took my oath as a brand new US citizen. It feels GREAT; I always felt happy as a GC holder, too, and always have had the fortune of having ly loving wife, her family and a great bunch of American friends and relatives, but this is just special: it's a feeling of strengthened belonging and pride...hard to describe...I am American! officially!

Just thought I'd share with you guys; Here are a few pics from today: Oath Ceremony at the USCIS office in Durham, NC.

Congratulations!

Now you can lawfully adopt xeno-phobic behaviors under sanction of our beloved government!!! (j/k

Congratulations and welcome! Remember to vote, participate when possible in local government when possible and remeber that no matter what anyone says, all of us are either first time citizens or the descendants of first time citizens (unless you are a native American). Hold your head high!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You have my admiration - from what I understand, it's not an easy process and only the very dedicated get through the entire process. Again, congratulations!

Congratulations!! Your wife (as usual) looks more happy than you. Way to go. Welcome is (sort of) in order.

Look at that, a room full of people who spell better and use proper grammar more frequently than the BITOG crowd.

Congrats!

I became a U.S. citizen 2 years ago. It's certainly a lot easier getting in and out of the country with a U.S. passport than a green card. Glad my mom pushed me to do it before they doubled the price too.
