Hi, I am new member here but have lurked from time to time. We purchased a 1999 Lexus RX300 with about 98K on it. I know the problems the Toyota V6 can have, so I was careful to find one with a good maintenance history. I figured I would be proactive with this engine and run some Auto-Rx in it. I bought two bottles and will do the oil change along with a new pcv valve this weekend. I posted on the Auto-Rx forums what I am doing and took some pitures. I noticed on my dipstick there is oil varnish on it and it will be interesting to see if that varnish goes away or not. I am going to document my experiences through out the treatment process. I will try to do post in 500 mile increments. I will also try and find an oil filter cutter and I will post honest results. If I knew what I was doing, I would pull the valve cover off and post pictures of before and after. But I think that might be over my head. Anyways I will post what I am doing soon and this is a great site.

Go for it let us know how it goes. Be careful though people will want hard proof, like compression numbers before and after, or pics under the valve covers before and after. ARx gets beat up around here lately. Definitely cut open the filter and post that.

What you are talking about has value especially for a sludge prone engine.
Yes don't worry if you get negative comments from others. Just keep on keeping on.

Just be sure to change the filter per the sludge schedule, at least till you know the filter is not clogging up. Ask me how I know?

Do you see any sludge in the fill hole?

You have the right idea, keep/get the motor clean. After ARX, I recommend using synthetic oil from this point on.

Currently 2 3/4 bottles in my BMW sump for a 10,000 km clean (thinking of extending it to 16,000 kms). The results for this 2nd extended clean are exceeding expectations. Luckily Lexus owners don't have VANOS seals to think about.

Here is the link: Auto-Rx website to my pictures.

I like how you put em together for the picture. Nice choice of oil. after auto-rx use MMO for maintaint, No need to buy over price of auto rx for maintain. should never buy that over price auto-rx anyway. that just my 2 cent.

That would be silly. ARX has already been proven in such tests many times over.

Funny you mention that, same goes for people using MMO and making claims it worked. I was asked for pictures and compression results too. LOL

Peter, have you ever used ARx?

Our 2000 RX300 oil fill cap looks identical. I just substituted a quart of MMO to the fill. The next summer OCI, I'll be doing 20% MMO with Rotella 15w30. AutoRx is too rich for my blood...

Getting ready to start a treatment cycle on my 1999 Lexus RX300

Well my wife and I bought a 1999 Lexus RX300 about a month ago. Having investigated the oil sludge/gelling problems with this V6 engine from Toyota, we decided to buy the car based on it's maintenance history. It was a one owner car and the lady kept everything in a big folder. I can account for almost all the oil changes from new until now. Most of the work was done at the Lexus dealer.
Even though it has a great maintenance history, I still wanted to be pro-active given the problems this motor can have. After reading and being a member some of the Lexus forums, I came accross this product and decided to give it a try. I will document all results on this site for others in the future. I will also let clublexus.com and lexusownersclub.com know about my experiences to help others out.
I will be starting treatment this weekend and I have taken some pitures for documentation. This is what I bought:
1- 2 bottles of auto-rx
2- 1 pcv valve
3- 5 quarts of cheap oil
4- A bunch of oil filters

I took some pictures of the dipstick and inside the oil cap. You will notice a lot of oil varnish on them. I also took a picture of the mileage. This should be a great experience and I will pull the dipstick out and take more pictures every 500 miles or so. I will also take pictures of the oil that I will drain and cut open oil filters.
On a funny side note, Mr. Millers operation is in my home town here In Jacksonville, Florida. I work in the Ponte Vedra area and if Mr. Miller wants to look at or add to my quest, I can meet up with him anytime. This should be a lot fun!

Follow along guys, scottone928 posts this last nite at 8:30 p.m. on the arx forum, and around 10:00 p.m. or so he posts here.

There was a guy on here named Rick20 who goes by Richone on the arx forum.

Richone and scottone928, it just sounds to similar, but I could be wrong.

I joined the arx forum back in July of 2007 and I did not make my 1st post on BITOG until 01/24/08

Recap, scottone928 posts at 8:30 pm on the arx forum and less than 2 hours later he posts for the 1st time here.

The post scottone928 made last nite on the arx forum was his 1st post.

#1751100 - 01/21/10 10:09 PM I am going to use Auto-Rx on my 1999 Lexus RX300.

I made a slight mistake in my time line, if scottone928 posted on the arx forum at about 8:27 p.m. and he then posted here at 10:09 p.m. then we have to realize that the BITOG clock is not in the eastern time zone like the arx forum clock.

What does this mean, scottone928 posted at 8:27 p.m. on the arx forum and then he posted at 9:09 p.m. here on BITOG.

I really think something strange is going on here, anyone reading this can decide for themselves.

c3po what are you talking about? I posted what I am up to over there first. Then I came over here and posted aswell. I even posted a link in my second post. When I was ordering, I noticed out of quensidence this product is out of my hometown and stated as much. Also I figured since I was going to log what the results were, why not see if Mr. Miller wanted to see them first hand. Why are you trying to discredit and act like thier is a conspiracy, when sometimes it is just a small world?

quensidence is actually spelled COINCIDENCE

thier is actually spelled THEIR

There is one person over at arx who used to post here that seemed to mispell certain words, would anyone care to take a guess as to who really wrote the above post.

Well this might be of some help for sw99 since he has an RX300 too. I hope to see the dipstick get cleaner along the way. Oh and I appreciate the spell check c2po. Just relax and enjoy the outcome.
