STP 2808XL cut open unknown miles/months on 2018 Kia Soul + with oil consumption issue

I don’t know. I didn’t research the KSDS and not familiar with its relationship to oil consumption.
The KSDS is suppose to detect extra knock if the rod bearings get too worn out - knock shocks that the sensor picks up from the rod bearings. Suppose to warn the driver before the rod seizes, fails and goes through the block. I'd think some kind of dash light comes on or flashes ... at least the Check Engine light.

How does the Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS) update tell the driver when it's detecting excessive bearing wear and danger of engine failure? But alarms pop up on the dash warning

This was the code from my obd fusion app when I found oil level low and CEL lit. Then topped off, it went off, then did oil change a bit later. Did a lil google search and results said code could be from low oil etc. But, low oil I assume means extra wear on engine. And the oil consumption issues also are well documented on the web. Not my vehicle though, so don’t know all the info. So, it’s going to dealer Tuesday. Advised my friend that it’s necessary to document these issues w/dealer in case engine blows later.

Yes, a too an low oil level could cause inadequate lubrication and lot of wear on journal bearings.

^^^ Yes, if the VVT system has a momentary lack in oil pressure it will not control correctly and the ECU will detect that and throw a trouble-code.
