I always hear "solar panels are recyclable" well now it's time to test that IRL

Step 4:
Throw it in the back of your pickup truck.

Those guys appear to want to break down and resell a solar system that is no longer functional or is unwanted, is in the way, ect.
A place like that is where I got my used dirt cheap replacement panels from.
The older larger, 72cell 300w used panels are putting out as much if not more power than the newer, smaller higher efficiency, 60 cell 330w panels. I think it's because the used panels are simply higher voltage so the higher voltage with the micro inverters are more efficient overall.

The pragmatic parts of renewable energy get trashed. If it's metal it gets reused or recycled.
The biggest part of the wind turbine, the concrete foundation just gets abandoned in place and buried.
Here in corn country the last windfarm they put in required a bond to pay for remove and mitigate any foundations. That was a local code though and the state has removed local control over renewables. And many windfarms that upgrade need new foundations.

Wishful thinking. I have 4 panels that are barely 4 years old getting junked because of hail. At this rate I'll be lucky if any of them make it to 20 years.
Gotta love how trying to save money always comes back to bite you. Happens to me too, sometimes I feel like I should just worry more about making enough to not worry about the nickel and dime stuff.

It saved me thousands of dollars.
The back story is our co-op was looking to sell out to some evil out of state energy conglomerate.
The deal was supposed to be kept secret, set to take about 9 months to complete. Well the secret meetings lasted about 2 weeks before word go out and about 3 months into negotiations about 23 of us co-op members had gotten solar panels and another dozen were about to start installing.
The evil energy conglomerate straight up abandoned the deal.

A solar farm at end of life probably has a positive salvage value-- you could find someone to tear it down and haul it off in exchange for letting them sell the recyclable metals and anything else that is still worth money. The other parts are not toxic and can be put in a regular landfill. A nuclear plant at end of its useful life is a huge liability.

Searching around for "recycling solar panels" and there are firms that go around and tear down old solar farm. I bought used panels from a place that does this.
