Hyundai / Kia Red-1 ATF Fluid

Was looking up purchase some ATF for my Sedona on Amazon, and I notice Kia has a new fluid called Red-1.

Is this the successor to SP-IV (backwards compatible), or is it a different formula entirely? Any info on this fluid would be appreciated.

its Idemitsu ATF Type-J fluid, this is not a new fluid, actually an older specification.

Its semi synthetic.

SP-iv is fully synthetic , and a long life transmission fluid.

The Red-1 fluid is the same as the Nissan type-J fluid...the Red-1 fluid was used in KIAs that used the 5sp auto from Jatco (Nissan)...like the 2006-2009 Sorentos, and the v6 Borregos and some of their other rear drive platforms with the 5sp auto.

Yeah, it is old...I think Nissan superseded type J with type S, I think???

Thanks for the clarification. I saw mention of it and didn’t recognize it; assumed it was something new.
