It's raining very hard outside my window. Very hard. I am at the most eastern edge of the storm just north of Lake Pontchartrain as it crosses Louisiana this morning. How in the world did I wake up with a hurricane heading this way (east) when the forecast last night was a simple TS heading north? My mustard green patch needed a little rain but this is rediculous. My post-Katrina PTSD is ramping up big time. Wait a minute! I think I see a looter!!!

Do you have sand bags? Batteries? Food/Water for 2 years? Generator? Books for reading? And most importantly a good stash of motor oil??

And a

would not hurt!

If all else fails, praise the Deity and pass the ammunition!!

I am not aware of Mori's preparation status. Harpoons may in fact suffice for the west coast. I've been shopping for crossbows...

As for me, sand bags, no, as my elevation is at 375' and no nearby streams, etc, batteries, F/W for 2 months and climbing, generator, 20 5 gallon gas cans, books, oil, boat, ammunition, prayer, all yes. Plus a well watered mustard green patch.

When Pablo's favorite excretory matter does hit the air circulation device give me a call.

I live along the tsunami escape route. Of course I'll likely drown in liquified sand during a quake (The San Andreas fault is in visual range) or my place will blow up due to a ruptured gas line. I am however well prepared and can fend off hordes of looters and assassins.

Hah, you mean sensible people didn't all move up this way after Katrina? Lol, Humberto's just a little rain. No worries...

Can't email or otherwise transmit excess rainfall anywhere. Garden rain gauge reads a pathetic 1" total for the day. So much for the bumper mustard green crop. Panic now subsiding. A little bit anyway. Where are you, Ingrid?

Mori,

When (not if) the Big One hits, wax down your board and surf the tsunami to SELA. Well equipped sentries are always in demand. Ask me how I know. Bonus benefit: You can operate the well's hand pump and avoid dehydration! Rule of 3, etc, 3 minutes without O2, 3 days without H2O, 3 weeks without food. OK, I've got a little margin on the food metric.

Hah! We didn't even get a sprinkle up here. All my relatives in Natchitoches (home of the meat pie) got a good dousing, though.
