Exactly. If you try to deceive them, (1) they will figure it out and (2) they aren't gonna want to work with you.quote:

Not quite--the logic of those unethical people is that you should only have to pay if you're a faceless corporation that already has lots of money.quote:

My brother has a 2005 Ford Escape. He first got the oil changed at 600 miles. He's been changing it himself ever since then, saving the receipts for the oil and filters and writing down the date and mileage that it gets changed.quote:

This logic is just as ridiculous. Always blaming, big business, big brother, "the man", whatever gets you no where. That's how this blame someone else culture got started. Two wrongs NEVER make a right, even if your dealing with most evil person in the world.quote:

If I were the service manager AND if the person were honest about what happened, I'd see if I could get him the replacement engine at cost or at a discount compared to the normal list price.quote:

I can't see how a service manager is going to be compassionate on this one.
Well, first, BMW and a few other manufacturer's offer free maintenance for a period of time. These free maintenance plans have nothing to do with the lease. I've owned and leased BMWs and the free maintenance was the same. I've leaesed BMWs, Acuras and Toyotas and they all require you to maintain your car. No one but the leasee has responsibility for performing the maintenance.quote:

Since the Explorer was a lease what was the dealer doing for over two years when the vehicle never came in for serviceIsn't that a part of the lease program? I hear BMW lease deals that provide free maintenance. Maybe that was overlooked. Either way they are going to have to pay for a new engine unless they can prove maintenance was performed. I would call the dealer and tell the truth and hopefully they will work with you.![]()
