How's this for a mix?

I just changed the oil in my '97 C230 yesterday. Four months/3400 mi. on 4 qts. Delo 15w40, 2 qts. Havoline 10w30.

This time, I had 6 quarts in 2 grades of TropArtic synblend, and 2 quarts left of the Delo. So I popped into my 6-quart crankcase the following brew:

3 quarts 10w30 TropArtic
1 quart 15w40 Delo
2 quarts 5w30 TropArtic

Be aware that the weather is cooling off a little here; we probably won't see any more 90-degree-plus days until March (though there's no guarantee). In any case, the original spec for my car says that 10w30 and even 5w30 (in SJ-rated oil, back then) is okay up to 90. And possibly the Delo will thicken things up just a bit, in case.

Whaddaya think? What kind of cst at 100 deg. C. will this hemlock brew give me?

I did oil changes yesterday....

for the Honda: 3 qts Castrol GTX 5W20, 1 qt of Pennzoil Synthetic 10W30 (SL) 3 ounces of GTX 5W30, 4 ounces of LC20

for the SAAB: 2 qts Mobil 1 5W30, 2 qts Mobil 1 15W50, .5-.75 qts of Redline 5W30

Should generate approximately an 11 1/2 cSt blend at the 100C end and just barely make the 10W rating at the cold temperature end.

A think Delo 15w40 mixes well with any formulation that uses moly!

If you're going to mix - you'd better learn how to calculate viscosity before you dump it in. Check the shell site for a vis calculator. The first is a 40 and the second a thick 30 based on what I recall my brews with delo combos are.

Thanks. Whatever happened to that useful sticky from Jan. 2005 with the viscosity and other data of the most popular oils? It sat prominently atop this forum, or the Auto & Lubrication General Topics. I used it to calculate some other mixes, but now can't do it for this one.
