Thanks to this site, I now feel the need to run to my aunt's house to do an oil change.
My aunt is running an old tired 99 Ford Winstar w/ nearly 189k on the clock. At this point, I know the engine burns oil, just not sure how much. (She drives a bunch and rarely checks). I know she does change her oil, usually on the far edge (aprox 5-8k OCIs on dino at the local shop-my guess would be service pro oil)
Anyways, she had to top up about a bit over a half a quart. So she stops at the gas station and puts a half a quart of EVERCLEAR ( one of those "bad" oils) 5w30 in there. Boy, she got a touguelashing for that one....Van is showing no ills, and seems to be okay (right now), and thank goodness is due for an oil change soon. Should I bother sweating it, or just let it slide until she changes it next week?
