I have to slide my trucks cab over about 1/4" to 1/2". I'm not sure how to do it without some kind of heavy lifting apparatus.

The truck is completely assembled, and I'm not about to disconnect things to move the cab such a small amount. Obviously I will have to loosen the cab mounting bolts a little bit, which is not an issue.

I'm looking for some "backyard mechanic" methods to move it a little bit without damaging anything on the truck, which is in very good condition.

Three ideas:

1)If you take the weight off it by hoisting it up a bit I think you can move it. One or two come-alongs should do it. Attached to a barn you drive into, backhoe, trackhoe? I would not lift with the machines, they would just provide a anchor point.

2) Lift section by section and put those felt moving pads in between. Then push.

3) Two cases of beer, 8 guys. Each takes home a 6-pack. Done.

I'd rig up some turnbuckles. More controlled. From "something in the middle" like a seat belt anchor to a frame rail. Loosen the cab mounts and use some jacks/ blocks to lift on the rocker panels. Lift enough so that the weight starts to lift off the suspension but no more.

If'n it were me, I'd unbolt the cab, but not all the way, just nuff. Then I'd get me a couple of them jacks and use them to jack that cab clear offen the frame, but just a tiny bit. Then I'd put me some blocks of wood or stumps or firewood or somethm' up under that cab. Then I'd tie me a rope to the frame and either Rufus and me would grab the other end of that rope and pull the frame one way or the other or I'd tie it to my truck and give it a good yank - but not too much - just a tiny bit - or somethm' like that.

That about sums it up.

The advice given so far has given me an idea.

I can loosen the cab mount bolts, lift the cab slightly using 2 jacks aligned perpendicular in travel to the truck, then push on one jack with enough force to hopefully move it just that little bit.

This should be made easier by the fact I just put plates on the cab mount brackets and they aren't attached, so everything should be able to move relatively easily...
