Pathetic. If these people care so much, maybe they can donate to the Red Cross to help the Hatian people. That is REAL!
About the movie
It's always funny to see people offended by a nice message. I wonder how people would react if it was the opposite and promoted destroying the environment, private enterprise at any cost, racism, etc. That would be hilarious to see the reaction to an Anti-Avatar movie.
I didn't think it was THAT anti-corp though; just because it's pro nature doesn't mean it's anti everything else. As for the tree, it's roots were networked underground and destroying it meant the natives would definitely scatter; easier for them to just make a big hole and scoop up the unobtanium. I would have liked to know why it was worth so much money though, I just assumed it has some crazy cool properties to it that no earth element has, you can just infer that.
The soldiers were there for a mission like anything else, they don't question the reason it's their job; like Vietnam, Iraq, etc. They weren't bloodthirsty for no reason, they actually gave the diplomatic approach 3 months in the movie, then moved in with bulldozers to scatter the Na'vi, so they weren't really bloodthirsty at all. I thought they portrayed the NeoCon mentality pretty accurately, and of course you get cinema-level exaggeration.
Guess it's all opinion. I just got the vibe of general respect and rationale etc. Definitely was simple in plot, that's why I liked it. I liked the movie. It was fun in 3D.
