How Old Is Your Lawn Mower(s)?? And How Many Hours Approximately?

I have a Honda 216 something another self propelled. I use it about an hour per mow and I mow on average 30 times a year. My parents bought this for us when we moved into our home in 2013. So I’d say 300 hours. I change the oil every other season with 10w30 usually Pennzoil conventional. Yesterday I was supposed to do it but I got involved in other things.
Try Mobil1 10w30 and see if it works better.

It's from the 90s. Estimate 300-400 hours. Never apart, untouched carb, completely trouble free ownership on e10 it's entire life.

So ironic that a Tecumseh has been the most reliable piece of OPE I've ever owned or used. I'd love to find a new deck for it.
I had a perfect running Tecumseh hm80 on my last snowblower a 1979 MTD, unfortunately the rest of it fell apart engine still running great.
E10 it's entire life? Do you happen to be a corn farmer? Lol.

My Honda self propelled is about 4 years old now. Have been using M1 0w40 but just bought a bottle of sae 30 to see if it cures the startup puff of smoke.
Okay, I figured out why I got the puff of blue smoke at start-up. For the last 5 years I would shake out and blow out the original air filter. I replaced it with a new Honda filter and the engine starts much easier with NO blue smoke. Still using 0W40.

I like to see the old mowers. I wish more people posted pictures. My oldest mower is a 2005 John Deere L100 with 1805 hours.

Thats quite the gas can collection there. I've sworn off those style cans, I only use motorcross style cans now.
Thanks. I have 25 of them and wish I had the kind you have. I need the cans to haul gas for my boats and tractors. One boat holds 90 gallons. The fill port is on a flat deck area so I put a large funnel in it and tilt 3 cans in the funnel an let them drain.

Big Dog 42" zero turn. 13 years about 700 hours. 500cc B&S Intek. Just replaced the head gasket for the first time. I sure wish someone would make a really premium head gasket for these engines.

2005-ish Honda HRX217. Bought it in 2012 from a guy who said he stored it in his garage for 3 years and it wouldn’t run correctly after that. $25 and a new carb had it running great. I’ve put 225 hours on it. Just went through it this week and did all the normal maintenance items. Currently running M1 Euro FS 5w-30, as I already had some in the garage. Plan to do a UOA at the end of the season, which should have about 40 hours on the oil by then.

Finally had an issue with the deck. Something knocked a dime sized hole in it. These mowers are known for their lifetime warranty on the decks. But, apparently mine is pre-lifetime warranty. So, she got the JB weld treatment. lol. It’s actually curing right now. Hopefully it holds.

168 hours Ferris stand-on purchased Spring 2017. I use Kawasaki 10W40 in it. My dad bought a Toro Super Recycler with a 190cc B&S 1 or 2 years ago and he really likes it.

I have a Deere X304 that just hit 1200 hours. I bought it used about 10 years ago with 400 hours on it. It must be a 2007 or earlier because it has the heavier K58 axle. I think I put a belt on it, and blades, in the 10 years I've owned it.
My trim mower is a Greenworks Pro 80-volt self-propelled that's on its fourth season. No complaints so far, except that replacement blades are hard to find. I finally located one at Tractor Supply, of all places. The original blade is still functional, but I like having the spare.

When I bought a new house in June 2000, got myself an Ariens LM21 self propelled with B&S 6.5hp L-head. Two or three oil changes a year, probably 60 or so hours a year mowing two residential lots. Moved to Tulsa at the end of mowing season, mower at dad's house and used it every two weeks mowing 28,000 sq ft lot that took 3.5 to 4 hours for four years. Then moved the mower to Texas and continue to use it to mow my current residence. Estimate It has somewhere north of 1,200 hours and just this year, muffler bolts broke off inside the block and it is starting to smoke when you shut it off. Just yesterday, mowed and collected four baggers full of cut grass and noticed it's performing more like a 5hp, just not as lively. It has always had 10w30 Valvoline SynPower and fresh air filters. It also recently began "using" oil, needing to be topped off every three or four hours. Three years ago, for rental lots I also bought a 22" Toro Recycler Personal Pace with a 160cc Briggs & Stratton engine that "you never have to change the oil" on, but I do anyway. It also has had nothing but 10w30 Valvoline run in it. My "other" mower is a 2022 Hustler Raptor 54" deck, Kawasaki power, only 30 hours on it...it's quick! Used to have 2.5 acres, now only a 140x60 vacant lot.

Just curious, how old is your lawn mower (and what lawn mower is it)?? Brand? Push mower, walk behind, riding mower?

I‘ll go first: I have a Troy Bilt 430 push mower, bought in 2008 and still going strong after 16 years. I also have a Toro 20330 Recycler walk behind self propelled mower, bought in 2010 and also going strong after 14 years. Both have Briggs and Stratton L-head engines (both about 190 cc “6.75 torque”) and have plenty of power to get the job done. Each gets roughly 20 or so hours of use per year, so about 320 hours on the TB and about 280 hours on the Toro. I use Amsoil synthetic 5W-30 motor oil on both. I try to change the oil every season but wind up not always doing that.
Great engine. They can last a long time with regular oil changes and keeping the cooling fins clear of debris. I have seen some survive low oil situations.

Nothing crazy here. A 2012 troybilt push mower that I bought when I bought my first house. I estimate it has 250 hours on it. The new HRX i just got this year and it just hit 10 hours today.

The mower on the right looks like my 2021 HRX (unused until 2022). I don’t have that lever but a knob instead and the handle has molded plastic different the pic. It replaced a 2002 Craftsman that my buddy still uses as I gave it to him 2 seasons ago. $629 back then. I know it’s just a lawnmower but ergonomics.

Edit fairly certain mine is discontinued if not all, and it’s interesting to see what sellers are trying to get for them today.
