I found this purolator filter in my dad's shop. Looks like it will fit my Ford 5.4. Any idea how old it is?

I remember them looking like that in the 2000s.
It is not as old as the car.
Beyond that, old. I agree possibly the 2005-2010 range.

Filters don’t expire run it
Not sure I agree with that, though that one seems to have been well stored.
If it had a silicon valve, I might run it. But probably not.

Not THAT old, but how was it stored? Temp controlled or hot garage?
Sure the ADBV should handle high temps, silicone easy - but yeah nitrile in a hot garage for 15 years.............hmmm.......check for doneness.

This I found a couple of filters similar in my garage 2008ish to 2012ish.
Granted, it is not a jug of milk but filters do eventually degrade over time. Even more so if not stored in climate controlled areas which many garages are not. Most issues of older filters is not evident from the outside but inside where they may started to rust and in the case of cellulose filter media, start to degrade in high humidity type environments.
