How often do you change your air filter?

I was wondering when do you guys change your air filters. 10k, 15k, 30k, or more miles? Does a newer filter mean better filtration or less? Thanks

In my Volvo: Every 6mo, which usually equates to about 15k miles.
In the Wife's VW: Every 20k miles

OE paper air filters in both vehicles are
inexpensive and very simple to change.

30,ooo here in SW Fl. If I lived or drove on farm or dirt roads maybe 15,000 depending on how bad it looked. Remember that the filter increases in efficiency as milage goes up--to a point so just changing every 5-15,000 miles just to be changing may not be the best.

I check it every oil change or when I think about it and change it when I think it looks dirty. Over time that probably averages 12 months or 12k miles. Lots less on my car which sees a lot of dusty roads.

Air filter EFFICIENCY includes air flow rate. If it didn't, the most efficient filter would be a solid steel plate. Filtration RATE will increase as it loads, efficiency will drop.

once a year, which translates to 15k on one car and 28k on the other.

If I get good Si #'s on my UOA, I try not to disturb the air filter seal by opening it until necessary.

once a year on the Accord. First 6 months, take it out and reverse blow it, unless it really, really looks bad. UOA's have shown that this regime works.

Changed mine a bit early @ 11k miles but what a pain it was. Honda makes it difficult to get out, at least in 05 Accord's.

Never, im running a amsoil airfilter.

I used to replace them about every 10k miles because that was about how many miles I drove and usually I do things like wipers and such in the spring, so the filter always went along with it. Now i've found that filtering gets better with age and the filter usually just got dark but never seemed dirty even with my last one being 15k miles. I live in the city and almost never drive in dust so my filter will be in there for 30k miles or until things look strange on UOA's.

I rarely replace filters. I replaced my OEM filter because it was bent and probably leaking. But I ended up installing a SRI with a cleanable filter. I may clean it at 30,000 or 50,000 depending on how fast it gets dirty. Which at my current mileage will be in about 3-5 years

15K for my Prius - and it really gets dirty for some reason. Just threw out the K&N on the wife's Corolla after reading stuff here and plan to check the Purolator filter every 10K.

used to do it every 25,000miles but now do it when the 'air monitor gauge' says too. Get 50 to 60thou miles now on the stock replacement paper filters. The last 5 oil samples done every 10,000miles each have stated that my air filter system is doing fine after each sample with the same filter element used for all 5 so far. So good so far, will be sampling #6 in a few months.

It depends on the vehicle. Some I have to replace once a year regardless of mileage, they just get filthy. Some I get 5 or 6 years out of. Worst offender (96 Buick Century) every 10k or about six months. I use only Frams or Purolators and don't get any different results from either.
