How often do you change your air filter?

I'd like to install an air filter pressure drop meter in my car. I'd test it at WOT every once in a while, to see if it's getting close to 10" w.g. If the pressure drop suddenly decreased, I'd know a mouse has gotten in there and made a nest.

Every 40k miles per maintenance guide. (03 VW Golf TDI), my oil analysis have shown good filtration up to that point. Even at 40k the filter is not too dirty visibly.

In my '99 Ford Escort ZX2 I change it every 30-35K. The filter is a nice large conical shaped unit that seems like overkill for a 2.0 4 cyl, not that I'm complaining. It's not really dirty at 35K and the new air filter never improves MPG or performance so I may run the current one to 40K.

Just changed the one in my Tacoma and it sees alot of off-road dusty trails. It had 36k on it and it didn't look too bad at all.

One of these low range silicon pressure sensors could be used to make an air filter pressure drop gauge. You could install ports on the air cleaner box, and check the pressure drop while accelerating at WOT, every once in a while, and only replace the air cleaner when the drop exceeds 10" water.

Or, you could bend some glass tubing, fill it with water, run some hose under the hood, and have an actual water gauge. You'd have to be careful to align the tube so the car's acceleration doesn't affect the reading. Install a small valve, and close it, to lock the level so you can read it when you stop driving.

My owner's manual calls for ever 30K for my 95 Maxima, but I replaced the first one at about 22,500 miles and likewise the next time. I am now using a K&N panel filter and intend cleaning it after about 25K.

Normally in the 15-20k range on all 3 vehicles. I just changed the Saturn at 17k (apx 1 year) with a Fram and the old one looked pretty good.

15K, I now have dual air filtration, an outer shell as well as inner, the outer gets replaced, the inner gets cleaned.

Mine at 12k was dirty so I changed it. I don't see the logic in leaving a dirty air filter in.

I change about every 15k. If I have been running off road in Death Valley I change every trip or every day. The bull dust from dry river beds is terrible. In two days of off road use in DV I can feel the change in acceleration. For normal off road use I check but do not replace.
