I use to use up to 2 litres. The last vehicle I bled I only used 1 litre. Is that sufficient? I use a plastic tube and a bottle. When Im bleeding I cant really tell the difference between fresh fluid and old fluid running thru the plastic tube. But the reservoir is a bright yellow now.

That should be sufficient. If the fluid is running clean you've done a good job. Some people forget to change the reservoir fluid first and force that dirty fluid through the system thus requiring more fluid.

Thanks. Yes, I did siphon out the reservoir first and filled it with fresh fluid.

Wow I only end up using about 500ml to flush out my system, including removing the old fluid first. But then again I dont have ABS.

I recently had stainless/teflon brake hoses installed on my Volvo 240. The technician used a brake flushing machine that doesn't really gauge the fluid as it goes in. We put about 48oz of Castrol GT LMA into the machine afterwards to bring it up to level.

The amount of fluid needed to flush will depend on the size of the car (length of brake lines) and ABS or non-ABS, but 2 liters should be enough for any car.
My Caprice with ABS takes about one liter to do the job.

I heard 1L for most cars. Usually I use ATE Blue and rotate with ATE regular brake fluid. IT allows you to see whether the new fluid has passed through the calipers or whatever brake system you have.
