How many "thick oil users" here?

98 corolla. Had oil consumption issues, ive very much slowed down, using rislone concentrate over short time
supposed too use 5w30, i use winter time, 10w30 for hot humid summers. I also use tcw3 and MMO in gas. Tcw3 is awesome stuff! Right now its in the teens here, southwest ct. 10w30 2004 havoline dino, rislone concentrate, MMO in gas, starts with no problems but.....at cold startups, you can hear valve tick for about 3 minutes.

5W-40 does not get you into the thick oil club son.
Apparently, it does in North America, particularly if not the original spec. I've been berated here over my choice before.
For my dad, the thick oil club (he disliked thick, and used thin as possible, thick as necessary before it was fashionable) included anything that wasn't a resource conserving grade for a PCMO. If it was diesel, well, diesel engines have their spec, so 15w40 in summer and 10w30 in winter were permissible. But, a 10w30 HDEO was too thick for a gasser and a monograde was sacrilege, or at least obsolete garbage in his view.
I guess growing up in this part of Canada on a farm without electricity before multigrades became available would taint one's viewpoint.

Would you eat Vegemite toast for breakfast, then sit on the beach or under a gum tree for hours drinking beer ?
I've never tried Vegemite but I love Marmite, and I'd love to sit in the sun on the beach. What's it like for finding work out there?
