How many own a 2014-2017 Chevrolet SS sedan?

These car are few & far between, I work on a few here & there only because I'm a GM/LSx specialist. The Caprice PPV & Chevy SS share a lot of DNA. Some of the suspension components wear out faster than I think they should....Strut Mounts & Differential Mounts.

Doesn't get much better than a LS3, The Timing Chain Tensioners do fail at high mileage but that's about the only fly in the ointment with this engine. I delete the Tensioner & run a LS2 Timing Chain Damper along with a C5-R Iwis Chain from Katech or Hinson.

Platform/Holden specific parts may become an issue in the future.

Good info. Hopefully at 3K to start I have some time before dealing with any issues.

This platform is also the kissing cousin to the G8/G8 GT/G8 GXP of Pontiac’s 2009-2010 swan song. IMO, the G8 was more aggressive and better looking (but only the GXP had the LS3), but the SS had more creature comforts and the magnetorheological dampers which made the 4k lb car handle better than many lighter sedans.

There were some teething problems when modding them, especially with the trans shift logic. The 6.0s needed AFM delete for reliability, but as clinebarger said the LS3 is pretty darn solid. The biggest problem with these cars is that limited production kept the used values inflated far above what any comparable sedan was at, but then again there’s really nothing truly comparable… this platform handles far better than any of the V8 powered sedans from other manufacturers, except for maybe the CTS-V or an earlier BMW M5.

3,000 miles?.....Bet they want an Arm & a Leg! That's really my only gripe about these cars.....People ask what MSRP was or over when they new. Well....They're not new & ALL of them are way out of bumper to bumper warranty.

Plus… since Holden has been dead since 2017, parts (besides engine and trans) will become increasingly pricey and hard to get in a short period of time.

Killing Pontiac and Holden are arguably two of GMs worst decisions ever.
