Looking at that pic, I'm thinking these are pretty worn. The gap looks a LOT larger on the ones I pulled.

I'll say 50,000 miles on them. the center electrode looks pretty worn, more than 30k but not horrid-bad either. May be the pic, but it looks like some wore more than others.

In general, nice, clean wear on them.

Yeah, I'd agree with meep. Whatever the 'actual' mileage expected out of these, it's probably gone at least half over that expected mileage for the arms to be that worn back plus the electrode itself recessed.

On the bright side, there obviously isn't severe mechanical issues inside this engine to have still performed 'decent', albeit rather poorly, on the over-used plugs.

I know eh? LOL!

NGK makes 1, 2, 3, and 4 ground plugs. The even make them with all 3 grounds connected with a triangle. The difference is that they are all for specific engines. The Bosch "+" series were marketed as a design for all engines.

I'd bet the plug design you pulled out are specific to your BMW.

Apparently all the newer BMW's come with this style of plug.

Agreed, the engine appears to be quite healthy

Sadly, even after replacing 140K plugs in multiple cars, I have never gotten any of that "new plugs" feeling.

I remember it used to me quite a difference with carburator and distributor e.g. 1983 Prelude.

They don't and I'm not sure how you extracted that from my post? I said it BUCKED while holding a gear, IE, it was MISFIRING under heavy load, low RPM. Changing the plugs got rid of the misfire.

I had plugs worn so much that the gap had became more than doubled. Even then there was no misfire. Putting brand new spark plugs felt no difference. I am surprised that your NGK has already started misfiring; they don't look bad compared to new ones.
