I have an 03 CRV that I bought brand new with a steady diet of synthetic oil. I'be used every major brand of synthetic oil that WalMart carries that is on sale.
I've changed a lot of components on it, some due to wear and others just because I thought it was time (water pump, serpentine belt, alternaotr, starter, struts I bought, what I thought, are the best aftermarket or OEM parts and it's been running great for 147,000 miles. With today's oils as great as they are, I have not had any engine problems and had the valve cover off to adjust the valves at about 135,000 miles. The head and cam were very clean. I believe at 100,000 miles the engine is broken in, at 200,000 miles I got my money's worth, and at 300,000 miles I'm on borrowed time. With today's modern synthetic oil formulations, should I expect more.
