How many Colorado BITOGERs getting on the 600,000 long waiting list---Casa Bonita

My wife and I went there in the mid 1980s and the place was a pit then. People were herded around like cattle, the food was blah and cold, the table service was nonexistent, the wandering Mariachi bands were nowhere to be seen, etc. It sure was nothing like the TV commercials made the place out to be.

I'm not on the list, but I'll go again sometime. It's been years and years. You don't go for the food that's for sure, but it is a Colorado right of passage!
Same for me, I'll take the grandkids once the wait list settles down. They'll get a kick out of it.

I also didn't wait in line for an hour for a Krispy Kreme donut or In-N-Out hamburger when they both came to town.

Although nowhere on the same scale, there have been a few themed restaurants in the Salt Lake City area. One of them lasted a few decades. (Does anyone remember The Hawaiian?) And one of them had a lot of similar features, including cliff diving. But the others were a flashes in a pan.

How many went to one of the Tropical Rain Forest restaurants that were popular for a while?

Except for The Hawaiian, they all had one thing in common - very average to below average food.

I guess those 600k reservations are not so concerned about the food, but more interested in the experience. For me, I wouldn't bother until the reservation list is down to a day or two's wait.

From the interviews Trey Parker and Matt Stone specifically discussed improving the dining. They've had a soft opening a few months back. Is it reservations only now?

Since the people on the so called reservation list eventually get an unsolicited email with a time slot to dine there, it's not really a 600,000 long reservation list. In reality it's a 600,000 person email distribution list.

I asked my Daughter to get on the waiting list earlier today- party of six. She lives less than an hour from the restaurant.

Daughter refused, said no way is she getting in line behind 600k people. Might be significantly less than 600k, or maybe more than 600k that want to "experience" Casa Bonita...... I would like to take the Grandsons there while they are little, at 600k waiting list, they might be college grads before we can all go.....

For the record, I have never been to Disney Land, Disney World, Knotts Berry Farm, Wally World, etc.... but Casa Bonita sounds interesting.

From the description, it sounds like they can probably seat a very large crown. I have no idea, but let's say they can seat 500. And let's say that they can turn over people often enough to fill each table 5 times in an evening, for 2500/evening. Also assuming a 7 day week, that 600k backlog means a 240 day wait.

I would also imagine that for one reason or another, they have a lot of people that cancel out of their slot.

I'm sure they have good intentions, and want to improve the quality of the food. But when you start seating and serving the number of people that must fit in a place like that, it becomes very difficult to keep the food quality good. Think about it this way. They are essentially serving the sort of volumes that would be served at a large cafeteria. And they are doing it all evening.

I only know of it from South Park
It seems a most tedious tourist trap type thing, but it also looks kinda fun 🌮

I'm not one for waiting lists, and I'm not in Denver
Maybe one day 🤔
