You have a voltmeter and a trickle charger?
I have a cheap, 2yr old Walmart brand battery that I made into a portable 12v power supply complete with 2 12v receptacles, digital volt meter and 2 USB charging ports. Everything's on SPST switches so there's no constant draw. I check it once a month just to be safe and it rarely drops more than 0.05v and usually reads between 12.65 and 12.60. I only put it on the trickle charger after a long usage.
