How is Your Fuel Stash?

6 empty 5 gallon cans and an empty generator.
Will be stocking up by June 1st for hurricane season

idk, some guy bought every 5 gallon gas can I had in stock yesterday…

In a couple weeks when I pick up my Tahoe I’ll fill it up. No choice. The price is the price. Not much I can do about it besides vote red and hope the next governor makes it so California uses the same gas as the rest of the country 🤣

If gas becomes unavailable I don’t think a couple gas cans worth will solve the problems that will cause.

I’ve had people ask me what I would do if the power grid went down for a long time. I tell them if that happens we have bigger problems than my car being dead.

One of my relatives has about 20 gal of fuel they bought 4 years ago they said I can have. I don’t know if it’s E10 or regular.
It’s in old steel Jerry cans with a good airtight seal, but they never treated it.

Filled up my Sienna yesterday. $3.19/gal minus the $0.60/gal Harris Teeter fuel points, took 16 gallons. My Prius V gets 43 mpg average and I have been using shell premium in that one lately at full price pre-war. Next fill up I may go back to Harris Teeter regular for it.

I filled up at an under $3 Exxon - but got the car wash price of $2.49 - needed a dual tank 3500 to make any difference - but the over priced car wash was much needed …

All my 1 gallon containers are empty, ( about 8 of them ), from snow blowing. Have 3 full 5 gallon containers for the lawn mowers whenever the grass decides to grow, and the machines have full tanks from winter storage. All fuel was treated when I filled them up in December 2025. Have 5 gallons of treated 50:1. CRV has a 3/4 tank in it, but it's AWD.. Thankfully, I'm retired, and don't drive much anymore. When I do use the CRV, I get as many errands completed in the same trip. Wife still working though, but she has a FWD Toyota that sips gas. We get a BJ's discount on fuel for being members, but the discount isn't all that much.

Around 200 gallons of red diesel for ranch activities. Going to go through a bit in the next 6 months with the tractor and UTV.

Until gas hits $7 I'm not really too concerned.

I don't have the need or means to stash fuel but I refilled with Mobil 91 SS+ before the strikes and the new Valvoline Restore and Protect FSC. Planning to run that all the way to E to hopefully outlast the kneejerk war gas price reaction.

This afternoon I dispensed the last of my pre-war 87 octane E10 into one of the cars. They are all more or less full now but my stash has been reduced to five gallons of 90 octane E0. If used judicially I could make it three weeks.

So how about you? What's in your stash?
I keep and rotate about 15 gallons. This is mostly to run my generator should the power go off which lately seems to be once a year now.. My concern is running the refridgerator.

I'm pretty much out of gas in gas cans I think I might have 6 gallons of ethanol free left in a gas can and 1qt cans I refilled. I've got like 14 of those 1qt gas cans I refilled over the years. I suppose this would be as good a time as any to swap out the gas in them.

It got up to 83F here on Tuesday so we did a little post winter cleanup. This included chopping some leaves with the Honda push mower and vacuuming them up with the Billy Goat. Perhaps 1/4 gallon dispensed for this. The remaining stash should last until the end of April unless it is repurposed for the cars. Methinks that gas prices will be down by 1 May in spite of any beligerrent noise coming from Iran.

This morning I dispensed the last of my pre-war E0 into the lawn tractor. This should be enough for two more cuts. It seems that I had underestimated Iranian belligerence and may need to bite the bullet and purchase some fuel at elevated prices. Let's see what the next two weeks bring.

I keep 10 gal diesel for the F250 and about 120 gal of various 93, 90 ethanol free and premixed 40:1. Rotate it all so it gets used within 1 year. This is for boat, jet skis, OPE, 4 wheelers and a variety of cars, etc. All gets some fuel stabilizer.

I filled the car three days after the shooting started, thinking I could stretch that until prices normalized. I guess not. Will have to fill up again soon. BIL drives a hybrid. He's grinning like the Cheshire Cat.

I normally keep gas around since I can see the san Andreas fault from my front door. Last time I rotated it out I didn't fill my cans due to the price of gas right now.

Pretty dumb of me.
