Based on the level of profit the company has that year, then distributed based on years of service. If you are 12 years of service you max out. Mine was $700 before tax, $493 after and I've been here 21 years.
No bonuses as such, but there's always plenty of overtime offered as a lot of people take their annual leave over Christmas (summer here remember), so there is extra money to be had if you really want it. Other places I've worked over the years used to give each employee a Christmas hamper, a couple of bottles of wine, gift vouchers, etc.
Since we don't get any such thing it isn't an issue for me.
We do have a sort of DIY program where you can sell back unused sick and personal leave time at your regular rate with sick time use through the year being penalized.
Since I never have a need of either sick leave or personal days, I was able to sell back 96 hours at my regular rate.
That makes for a nice little Christmas bonus.

We save all the scrap radiators and take them in near X-mas.
I work at UPS. I'm a semi mechanic and get no Xmas bonus but I made over $70K this year so far. The parcel drivers bonus is all the OT they are working during peak.
By how much blood, sweat, and tears that we shed for the company...

I am an hourly contractor but they allow me to bill thru holidays and not appear for a week or two. So it like 4% of salary...

We used to get profit sharing "bonuses" twice a year. Some of the payouts were pretty impressive. They were based on days worth of pay. Great times indeed.

I kind of cringed when I saw the title of this thread.
We got 50 dollars in chamber of commerce bucks, spendable at local merchants, good for a year. Previous years we got 40 dollars, they add it to our checks as income so we get taxed on it.
When I was a mechanic at a small shop I got 700 bucks cash one year, not sure how that was figured.
I worked at a GM dealer and we would usually get off Christmas eve and get paid for it so that was considered our bonus.

Mine is calculated at the whim of the owner. Thankfully it is generous.
