how good is carquest oil?

And who makes Carquest oil? My wife took her car to a BP service station (pretty good service people) and they did not use BP products they use Carquest conventional 10w30 oil and a white Carquest oil filter. Should I be concerned? She changes the oil every 3-4,000 mile when the change oil light ocmes on. The vehicle is a 98 ford explorer eddie bauer with 118,000 miles.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think Carquest oil is made by Valvoline and the Carquest filter is more than likely made by Wix.

Are you sure they didn't use CASTROL?

Castrol is a BP product.

The back of the bottle says Ashland. Ashland ownes Valvoline. Probly the same stuff Napa sells as Napa brand oil.

Decient stuff.....Nothing to write home about.

CQ has 2 filter lines. 1st is a rebadged Wix. The 2nd is usually a Champ product.

Carquest conventional oil is a slightly weakened Valvoline All-Climate. I would rate the Carquest Silver filter as better than Fram Duraguard & just under Purolator Premium Plus.. based on posts I've read.

I had no idea Castrol was a product of BP. I still have my doubts that is correct.

Note that they don't say it IS Valvoline, but supplied by Valvoline.

Depending on the franchise agreement the BP station doesn't need to use ALL BP products.

Or they could be cheating. Regardless, if the mechanics are good keep using them. Sounds like oil changes aren't the biggest business for them or they'd have a bulk tank filled with... whatever.
