How do I stop browning tires?

My Yokohamas don't seem to brown at all whereas my new Michelins brown often---and I do dress them at least once a month if not twice.

I wipe mine after a cleaning with the Meguiar's "Clean, Shine, and Protect," or whatever they call it now. Black bottle. It's water-based, and yes, the stuff comes off in a hard rain, but then this city is so filthy the entire car looks bad after a rain. CS & P goes on shiny but dries to a matte or satin black, not sleazy or wet-looking at all.

Plus I can use the same stuff on the vinyl inside the car and the rubber air dam under the front bumper.

Armor all will NOT dry rot your tires. Period. It is water based and I use it a lot. Not a thing wrong with it, mostly issues with older formulas and a lot of internet myth.

I like meguiars hyper dressing. You can dilute to get the desired shine level. Water based and cheap when purchased quantity.

I would NOT use a spray wax on a tire. Mainly because it's not made for tires and really isnt the product you want for the job.

The thicker, oily, silicone/petroluem based products are simply not good for tires. I got away from them a long time ago.

Before anyone asks, I have been detailing for over 15 years. Not a hack...I only work on higher end cars and do it on the side, as I have a full time job.

Stay with a water based dressing. If you want to deep clean the tires I would suggest Mother's wheel and tire cleaner, Stoners Tarminator, or Mother's tire renew. All good products that will safely clean your tires.
