I know, simple question, right?
I had a stash of oil and a few filters that I had built-up for my now-gone 2007 Corolla. Pep Boys was gracious enough to let me turn all that oil back in for store credit. So I got 5 quarts of Mobil 1 AFE 0W-20 for the Camry. I have one of the YZZF2 filters for the Corolla that I hope my local dealer will trade in for a cartridge filter for the Camry. I would like to drain the FF earlier than my first free oil change at 5k miles.
So, this Camry has this cartridge filter that I've never worked with before. It has a drain plug in the sump and in the filter housing. So I assume that I simply drain the sump and reinstall the plug. Then open the drain plug on the filter housing, insert the little plastic drain cock that comes with the new filter, let that housing drain, then reinsert that plug. Then remove the filter housing cap, and the cartridge filter will simply slide out of the engine. Reinstall the new filter with the new o-rings and fill the engine back up with oil. I'm sure it's that simple, but I figured I'd ask others who have worked with cartridge filters before, before I go tearing off into it.
Thanks!
