They stuck a big orange sticker on the driver's window.
Hopefully it's dealt with in a timely manner...
I remember it happened on several occasions on a 6-lane 55MPH speed limit highway that I used to go to work (route 28 north of I66 for anyone familiar with northern Virginia) that a car would be broken down or abandoned on the shoulder. Sometimes it would be missing the license plates.
And it would sit there for days, if not a couple of weeks. I'd venture to guess that if it's been there for more than a day or two, it's abandoned.
And then I would call the Fairfax County Police and say:
"Hi, there's an abandoned car on the shoulder of 28 at (location).
It's been sitting there for a couple of weeks now.
I'm getting sick of looking at it every time I drive by.
Do you think maybe someone could do their job and deal with it?
Thanks"
After I called, the car would usually be gone within a day or two.
Unexplained is why it took a call to get them to deal with it...
One of the richest counties in the entire USA and this is how they roll.
In addition to not looking very good to have abandoned vehicles sitting on the shoulder for an extended period of time..it's a safety hazard.
(This highway, although not an Interstate, gets as much traffic as one and I think it's designed to Interstate standards... If it were an Interstate the state police would patrol it and vehicles wouldn't be left on the shoulder for days and weeks)
