How are your organization skills?

I’ve de-cluttered everything in the past few years.

I hate having things around that’s not needed or no longer necessary.

My older brother has a very, very, very bad hoarding problem.

Everyone in this thread looks organized compared to me.

I have garage shelves, but one shelf might be "2nd gen Prius stuff" while another is "hoses, fittings, and stuff I can cobble together." It works for me but I wouldn't be able to explain it to anyone else.

My toolboxes are actually fairly well organized; enough so that my kids can "borrow" stuff.
Stop renaming things Mr eljefino and you'll be less confused. Geesh.

I've whittled down my stuff to the bare essentials over the years, and it is all well organized. Stuff that I use frequently is kept against one garage wall, and stuff I only need occasionally gets stored neatly in an out building. I am not a messy person. I can't stand clutter.

All two of them? Congratulations!

Depends on who you ask. According to my wife I'm terrible. I would say she is absolutely superb.
I dont think Im super organized, but I make an effort, but Im simply not that skilled nor and I a natural.
My tool box isnt what it should be, and apparently my closet isn't either.

We put ELFA shelving systems in every closet in our primary and rental.

The latest dialog on the subject -

"When are you going to do something about your wardrobe - its a disaster"
"Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles could do a better job of organization and color matching than you do."

The "disaster" in question.....
(most of my suits come with 2 slacks thats what the second hangar behind the jacket holds in most cases)

I have never been an organized person. I have a closet in my garage that is completely stuffed with filters, oil, spark plugs, injector cleaner etc. it's unorganized and difficult to find some things as they are often buried behind other things.

I bought a cheap rack and have moved the filters into the rack. Still not completely happy with the setup.

Would I be better off putting the oils and such on the rack and the filters inside the closet?

I dunno I'm just rambling.

Looks good to me, getting stuff onto shelves where you can see it is good. Closets/cabinets are for stuff that shouldn't get dusty.
I am very organizationally challenged, but fluids go on shelves, and filters go into a large filing cabinet drawer.

I'm moving to the bin system, and just keep stuff/parts/specialized tools grouped by each thing. A couple for bikes, one for each dirtbike, snowmobiles, atv, tractor...

I did start doing a bit of an inventory system for filters, parts, and fluids, so I don't buy the same part twice again, or know if I should get a filter I see on sale... As I do have a habit of getting the parts I need to fix 3 things, but then something else takes priority, then remember the other things need to be fixed, and forget that I got the parts for the first thing already....

Anyone need a drivers side engine mount for a mtx 05-07 Focus?

You have to like something to repeat it.

If I like something/some stuff organized I plan then I organize it. It that is not to my liking then I will re-do it.

Sometimes though, organized clutter is just fine. Does not hurt anything, doesn't slow me down.

Make sense?

The first thing I did to organize was to REDUCE stuff. That included sorting through my large magic bolt box and only keep 3 of everything, which was then sorted into trays.

I got rid of the stuff that was for cars I didn’t own anymore and shared my large tools off to family more likely to need then, knowing I can get them when needed.

Having room makes it much easier to organize.

I only keep one filter and batch of oil per car, purchased after I change the oil with my current stock.
