I have never been an organized person. I have a closet in my garage that is completely stuffed with filters, oil, spark plugs, injector cleaner etc. it's unorganized and difficult to find some things as they are often buried behind other things.

I bought a cheap rack and have moved the filters into the rack. Still not completely happy with the setup.

Would I be better off putting the oils and such on the rack and the filters inside the closet?

I dunno I'm just rambling.

I reached the age (72) where I have to be organized in order to keep track of things. Paying bills for example - I have a spreadsheet that has due dates as well as the date and amount I paid when I paid them.

There have been a couple of times over the last year or two when our bill did not arrive in the mail for some reason, but my spreadsheet alerted me to this.

Of course I could do autopay but I'm an old school guy. I don't like giving companies access to my bank account or credit card. Also too, and it may sound bizarre, but I get sense of satisfaction from paying bills.

Not saying anything is wrong with your way.

But you can set up bill pay in your checking account and then you initiate the pay - your vendor has no access. Then you can go look at all your regular bills and when they were last paid - ie it keeps the spreadsheet for you in the cloud. I often miss a bill also - I just scroll down my 5 bills to see which have not been paid recently.

I literally had one payment - the local water district - where until a couple years ago I would pay online and BofA would physically mail them a check on my behalf - no cost. Not kidding. They finally figured out ACH with the bank somehow.

My organization skills are also severely lacking. Father in law was organized and OCD which I need a little of. Sometimes I a buying things that I already have because I don't know where they are at. Not much help but you aren't the only one and hoping to get some ideas here.

I'm so old school I only put a limited very amount of things on the cloud. For example, I don't keep pictures on the cloud. About the only thing I keep on the cloud are my contacts and Safari bookmarks. Furthermore, I've never had a FB account and never will. Kind of strange coming from a guy who spent his entire career in the computer business.

My shop is crowded, but organized. Filters are stored in plastic tubs, along with other parts, to protect them from damage.

Wrenches and sockets are all in holders. Tools and parts are organized, but I have several boxes of things (a set of Volvo wheels, for example) that need to be sold/given away.

That’s my old tool chest, by the way, most of the tools are next to the work area.

Lots of stuff, but well organized. I like it.

Everyone in this thread looks organized compared to me.

I have garage shelves, but one shelf might be "2nd gen Prius stuff" while another is "hoses, fittings, and stuff I can cobble together." It works for me but I wouldn't be able to explain it to anyone else.

My toolboxes are actually fairly well organized; enough so that my kids can "borrow" stuff.

When it comes to tools very organized and I will know if you even move something a centimeter or whatever and my toolbox will never be unorganized. Anything else heck no not organized and doesn’t bother me when it’s not lol.
