Conventional Chevron & Halvoline motor oil are very popular among a lot of people here at this web site. But what about synthetic Chevron & Halvoline? I have not heard much about these. If the conventional Chevron & Halvoline are so good, shouldn't the synthetic Chevron & Halvoline be even better? How many people have tried synthetic Chevron or Halvoline and what have their experiences been like?

I've seen Havoline syn. on the close out table at AA earlier this year.
Wrong weight for my purposes. They didn't have any in the back or any in the weight I wanted.
I would have tried it, had they the weight I use.
Why did it go away? Don't know. Sickly green bottle, no advertising, to much competition, who knows?

I seem to recall someone who had done fleet tests and found Chevron synthetic was the best of all the oils he tested. Maybe the search feature can dig it up for you.

I'm using havoline syn 10w30 SL that I got on closeout from autozone last year. I only have 5.5 quarts left. I don't see it on sale anywhere else. I'll probably go to mobil 1 EP in 1.5 years when I run out.

Never have seen Havoline Syn around here in No. Va. Lots of Havoline dino, but not the syn. Chevron isn't here in any of the stores (never checked a Chevron station, but who buys oil at a gas station, right?

Actually, the green bottle is the HM version. I have over 100 quarts of the Havoline synthetic from AA closeouts back in the spring. I have a UOA on it's way to Blackstone now, but I anticipate no surprises, and the usual high quality we have come to expect from H-a-v-o-l-i-n-e. Most of the stash was obtained at .75 a quart, but I did get 24 quarts at .25 each.

When is that that Havoline being so reputable as it is so highly praised here, has such ________ selection? YOu can rarley find the weight you need in a blend, they don't seel synthetic at Walmart in that brand either, and I they do not provide 5w 30 in their HM at the parts stores.
At least Castrol and Valvoline provide a wide range of choices. Geez

mossad, I'm getting the feeling you feel slighted by having any limitation on your oil choices...

I also have about 50 quarts of the Hav syn blend, and at least that much of the HM, all from the AA closeouts; all at .37 a quart. I figured it up that I am good for the expected miles/life I intend to keep my Rendezvous, with nothing but Havoline in the engine, and trans, and that includes HM after 100,000. As far as a blend goes, make your own!

I actually know of a place where I can get synthetic Chevron in 12 quart boxes. I could probably get the synthetic 5w30 or 10W-30 but not the 0W-30 Chevron.

After I get done with a Auto-RX cleaning of my car engine I am thinking about going to synthetic oil. I have been using Mobil 1 in the wintertime but not every UOA with Mobil 1 looks stellar and Mobil 1 is getting to be very expensive. I have been considering Pennzoil Platinum or Chevron or Halvoline synthetic instead. If they sell the 12 quart boxes of Chevron at a good enough price I might go that way.

Unreal...

Man I can't believe how often I read of someone getting oil for just coins a quart. Synthetics no less. I NEVER see any deals like that. Not even on dino juice.

Just unlucky I guess.

Mystic, where can you get 12 quart cases of Chevron Synthetic, and at what price??? 10w-30??? If the price is good, I may have to stop in next time I'm down in Pueblo...

Yup, I got 2 qts of SJ 5W40 and 4 qts of SL 5W30 Havoline Synth for $2.12 each or therabouts on the closeout table at Advance. Interestingly, the SJ was prior to the Chevron merger and the bottles were a slightly different tint of blue.
