I am not sure.

That is because on nearly every current Castrol Product, you will see "BP Lubricants Swindon U.K." or something like that, and somewhere else on the bottle tells you where it actually was made.

The back of bottle did list the approvals by all German car makers.

I have never hidden the fact that I don't care for Castrol products. To me, Castrol is a mediocre oil. Castrol seems to care more about advertising than actually making a higher/top tier oil.

For years Syntec was a VERY over priced/under performing oil. Some data that floated around here years ago confirmed just how sub-par the Syntec line was.

The only oil Castrol ever made that I thought was good, at the time, was GC.

GTX is a good one too. Nothing wrong with Castrol per se, but I don't put them at the forefront of synthetic lubricant quality. Advertising, yes.

On sale, Castrol can be a decent oil. But at higher-than-usual prices when compared to other oils in its class, it's not a great choice.

I can get a 5 qt jug of PYB (the most stout dino add pack in the SN formulation) for $15.28 at Wal-Mart. Castrol, lacking molybendeum and instead substituting a titanium/ZDDP counterpart, is more expensive at $18/jug.

Why pay more when you can pay less and get more? If some people like to use Castrol, I say more power to them. But unless it is on sale, I usually pass it up...

$15 a jug is about average...if it is synthetic, yeah it's a good deal, stock up on some. Castrol Edge is still sort of inferior with other syns in its class, but for $15 it is a decent deal.
