I bought some syntec 10w30 for the Saturn its not due yet but it was 15 bucks for the jug how good is this stuff? How come castrol isn't talked about to much on here?

For 15 bucks a jug, it is a very good oil. There are "better" synthetics on the self but for that price it would be hard for the "better" oils to be a better value.

If so, it is really popular on these boards. Search for "GC".

No, GC is 0w30.

$15 for a gallon($3.75/qt), 5qts($3.00qt) or 5+ qts($2.94/qt)? Good price any way you slice it but, for a 5qt/+ jug, it great!

Castrol has sent what I feel are mixed signals about this oil. First off, they have Castrol Edge Syntex and Titanium. Why have two?

I have used the old Edge twice in my Corvette with outstanding results, but what with the confusion (of two oils) and lack of 5 quart jugs (in my area), I am reluctantly switching to Pennzoil Ultra (I refuse to spend over $8 a quart for 7 quarts of oil).

You got a good deal though.

For $15, back up the truck!

Castrol has two synthetic offerings much for the same reasons Pennzoil has Platinum & Ultra and Mobil has Mobil 1 & Mobil 1 EP - more products on the shelf, larger product line to fill in niche and I guess synthetic oil has been around long enough, just being a syn does not mean it is their top oil anymore...syn now falls into the good, better, best within a companies line up .

15 bucks!! Where!!?? are you sure you it isnt synblend ( silver bottle) ?? Either way, castrol is good oil, its just usually on the thicker end of its labeled weight compared to other brand s. Usually a popular choice for people with oilburners.

But the reason bitog hasnt reccomended it as muchas others is thier marketing.... Its over the top, and they use the same gimmicks they used in the 80's. Maximum protection against viscosity and thermal breakdown.... Cmon!!.

The two varieties of edge has erked some, the treehuggers are still mad about the BP spill ( they own castrol). Plus the add pack for gtx... It works, but its nothing special like Pennzoil or Kendall. It also seems to be the priciest conventional out there.

Thier xW20 oils sem to not cut the mustard with bitoggers tho...ill have to find the old threads.

But use it with confidence, my wifes highlander likes castrol synblend and edge w// titanium.

I have seen some European Castrol 0W30 in AutoZone. Though, it was not German made. The back of the bottle said it was made somewhere in UK. Is this the same as GC?

It probably is. It is hard for me to tell but I'll go check it out. I just need 4-5 bottles to complete a series of three oil changes on my 4Runner (~7.5 quarts per change, if I remember correctly). I am a bit short and I hate to waste oil or mix oil.
