When I stayed at the Mandalay bay, they used credit card like devices to let you in and out of the room.

I had to be let in my room EVERY SINGLE TIME by security because mine never worked right. I went through probably 10 cards the entire time I was there.

I was told ( and did ) to not put it in the same pocket as my credit card ... nothing. Then to put it in a different pocket from my cell phone and credit card ... nothing.

By the end of the trip, I was on a first name basis with a few of the security people!

This is more than likely due to the card reader in the door being dirty. All the grime from people handling their keys eventually builds up and makes it seem like the key is at fault. If it happens more than two times, ask that the door key mechanism be cleaned thoroughly.
