Honda MTF VOA 2025

Back in 2022, I did a VOA of Honda MTF at Blackstone. Since I've switched to Oil Analyzers, I decided to get a new VOA done by them. Other than the TAN, the oil looks pretty much unchanged from 2022 (and that just might be Blackstone not measuring an accurate TAN back then). What I've gained is the addition of oxidation and nitration results and the ability to use this as a Baseline Reference in my used oil analysis.

Interesting to see such a high starting oxidation value.

Oil Analyzers is having some delays due to equipment issues. I sent an email asking for a status update and the customer service rep put a rush on my orders (I did not ask for them to be rushed like the Comments in the report say). I have to say, their customer service has improved a lot since I last used them. I got a reply from Da'Nasha within 25 minutes and 1 minute later, the reports delivered to my inbox.

Yessir! It's going in the 03 Civic EX 5MT. BTW, I bought this at the dealer since it was only $9.25/qt (about the same as anywhere else online). I could tell the bottles had been updated due to the big mouth top, but the date code on the bottle, as far as I could tell, was from 2023. I had hoped for a 2025 bottle to get the most up-to-date VOA, but oh well.

Neither. I believe the manual says 60k miles severe / 120k miles normal, and the oil in there only has about 7k miles on it now. I had the transmission rebuilt a couple of years ago and have decided, in its old age, the Civic will get new transmission fluid once a year for the rest of its life. I typically drive it 5-7k miles per year, so every fluid change is unnecessary.

Not really typical of a gas or diesel engine oil but very typical of an MTF.

The calcium is a special calcium and is your main friction modifier while the sodium is your anti-rust agent. The ZDDP is your anti-wear/anti-oxidant agent.

Some of the newer MTF's have a 100C of 5.85 to 6.1 cSt, generally considered to be an LV MTF.

I thought Honda only made one type of MTF. The bottle says Honda Genuine HG Manual Transmission Fluid Advanced Protection New and Improved Formula for Honda Vehicles.
