Honda mower oil temp

Honda 160cc OHV
Oil: Pennzoil Platinum 5w30
Outside temp: 88F

After just mowing continuous for 1 hour I stuck my 12" cooking thermometer down the oil dipstick tube. It read 210F. Not sure why but I thought mowers ran a lot hotter. I was a bit surprised really. I use this thermometer all the time too so I know its calibrated good. Comments?

I think this cooking thermometer may be better than my infrared gun, can you show us a picture of this thermometer and where did you get it.

I got mine from Lowes or Walmart.

All my mowers run 200-210*F This is normal I think.

According to this graph...if you keep it at or below 210*F you are fine.
