Honda used to recommend Mobil 1 104 but now use 110 across all of their lineup, regardless of engine size. It is a great move for Honda as 110 is a good size to fit into tight space. But 104 offer better displacement/capacity than 110. I actual just ran out of my stash and see that Mobil 1 changed their thread pattern for their 205, which was a perfect upsize for Honda. According to the chart here, 207 is the way to go but the gasket has larger diameter than 110. I wonder if the gasket difference would mean it won't fit for Honda or the gasket is meant to secure the filter to the vehicle and the slightly different gasket size I
Won't be an issue.

207 and 110 have the same thread size but 207 is much bigger. Anyone has experience running 207 in Honda, specifically smaller Honda's such as Fit?

Really? I've never seen Honda recommend an aftermarket filter. Do you have a link for that?

Sorry, but I haven't run any Mobil 1 filters on my Honda.

Maybe just in the filter look-up catalogs.

I know that there were a variety of options for the four cylinder engine of the generation of your car, but I'm not sure that any would apply to the V-6. Not sure how much room is available in the V-6 installation.
Realistically, the smaller filter is probably fine. Your engine is probably throwing off little that any filter would need to catch, so the smaller filter should be no problem.
The M-110 happens to be about the largest diameter filter that will physically fit the later k24 and has the same gasket diameter as the larger PH3593A equivalent that was originally recommended for earlier engines.
You could always go to a Fram Ultra and forget the M1 if you want a filter as large as the original.

The M1-110 will be fine for your car with no problems

But if you want something more, there's the Fram Ultra XG7317 or the Wix XP 57356XP. In fact, Napa has the Platinum on sale this month for $8.99

One thing about Amsoil and Royal Purple (made by Champion Laboratories) is that the size options are limited and you can be stuck with undersized filters. The BITOG's most popular premium oil filter Fram Ultra offers a lot of size options. It would be a good upgrade over Mobil 1 Extended Performance. Availability seems mostly in Walmart though.

I buy them in 6-packs on ebay, usually for about $24 or so ($4/filter)

They don't have good prices on eBay for XG2951 that fits in Toyotas (90915-YZZF2 replacement). Walmart is probably the only option around here, and the nearest one is more than ten miles away, assuming availability.

Fortunately, the OP drives an Accord so a lack of availability of filters for Toyotas is of no concern to him.

Actually you are right that the someone is selling the Fram Ultra oil filter for his application (M1-104 cross reference) at a very low price:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-PACK-BRAND-NEW...-/121986880521?

So, OP, this looks like a great buy and a great upgrade over M1-104.

I am running Fram Ultra now in my Accord and Fit as a new try from BITOG's chit chat. I grew up hearing chants like "Friends don't let friends run Fram" and "Fram the cramp. Fram the tramp." Is Fram Ultra a miracle breakthrough better than Mobil 1 filter? I ran PureOne before as well but Wally doesn't carry Purolator anymore, and rarely has ACDelco.

Is Fram Ultra the top contender now? Any links here to research or are we just backyard energize this one?

Thanks guys.

Well, Fram Ultra is certainly by far the most popular premium oil filter on BITOG right now.

Of course, the new full-synthetic-media technology is better than the old synthetic-blend-media technology (Mobil 1), which was in turn better than even the older cellulose- (paper-) media technology.

There are many full-synthetic contenders out there -- Fram Ultra, Wix XP, PurolatorBOSS, Amsoil, Royal Paper, as well as lowly and third-party brands, etc. As for which one being the best, no one really knows but the Fram Ultra seems to have a solid construction (wire-backed dual-layer full-synthetic media, nicely and strongly built, etc.) and the price is usually decent (at Walmart). This is the reason behind the popularity.

Is upsizing will mean more filtering material? I want more capacity as well as filtering media as I want to do 15K OCI oil change instead of using Purolator at 5K OCI 3 filter per oil change. My Fit sees 99% highway at 55-65 mph and 25k a year. It is truly the most ideal driving condition. Considering that Honda says 15k OCI for regular filter, Fram Ultra should do 25k easily, correct?

The below site indicates Mobil 1 is best. Any validity?

A Fram Ultra will do 15K without issue. More than one here that was run that long.

Just run the one cataloged for your car, it will be fine.

Both of those list look like hogwash to me - on what basis do they say the filter is “best”?

No, the efficiency rating listed for the Mobil 1 oil filters is wrong. You need the efficiency rating for ISO 4548-12 @ 20 microns. Besides, they've decreased their efficiency further in the new, A-suffix versions. They also use synthetic-blend media instead of full-synthetic media, which has less dirt-holding capacity for a given efficiency rating.

These are blog posts that were most likely paid for by the maker of the top rated product. The other products are simply there to give it an air of authenticity. Anyone here on BITOG knows that the Fram Ultra Guard would need to be included in the list in order to make this a valid comparison. The fact that it is not included speaks volumes regarding the intention of the author.
