GEORGE: The engine result of your mixing and matching of oils is a product viscosity that we would expect from a 5w30 or light, 10w30. We can't argue about the wear results it has left you with. Universal averages show typical wear metals for an oil from this type of engine after about 6,260 miles run on the oil. Your oil was in use far longer, and we found wear generally, at better than average levels and in the correct balance to show normal mechanical parts inside. Air and oil filtration appear normal. The TBN was 2.4, still okay. Try 11,000 miles use next sample.

With this OCI, I also added 4 oz of Militec 1. I am very surprised to see the viscosity to be so low with the T&SUV mixed in. I would expect the 68 range. The gas mileage stayed pretty much the same ~25 mpg. I am happy with the results, but my only concern is the viscosity. Could the lab be mistaken? I am running the exact same mix in the car right now. I might do another analysis in 10K to see if the results are similar. Feedback is welcome.

If you did your ratios right you should have been closer to 12.6 ..or 40 weight. They measured about 10.1 cst (if I did the math right) which is lower then both of the individual oils started out at

. The flashpoint isn't stellar ..but nothing too lame.

Perhaps the Militec had some effect. I've never been exposed to the stuff ..what visc does it have??

Looks like a 50/50 mix next time.

It was 3 qt 5W30 and 2 qt T&SUV. The Militec is a 10wt oil, but only 4 oz was added. I am not going to sweat it since the wear is low, but I am a little confused.

You should run this mix again. I don't think that you are going to get better result. You have found your magic bullet.

Great results with very low wear. I have an Element with a manual transmission. I am running a 50/50 mix of Havoline synthetic 5w30/Havoline dino 5w-20 with LC and plan to run it 5-6K miles. Fuel mileage is pretty good at 25. What were you using prior to this mix?

This looks like a very excellent UOA. No wonder people say Hondas are boring!

I'm not sure what to say about the blend or the Militec. I guess I'd like to see a baseline on 5W-20.

Deoxy4, the fill prior to this OCI was Mobil 1 5W30. I think I ran that oil out to 5K. In the past I've used M1 0W20 and Redline 5W30. My Element is also a 5 spd. I think that I am going to keep running the 5W30/T&SUV mix.

Pablo, I am happy that my Honda is boring

Why do you guys put all these extra additives in the oil? From everything I've seen, this is not recommended.

Just curious?

I have the same engine but over a 10k mile interval used 1 qt of M1 0w-20. How do you drive? I shift around 3,500 - 4,000 rpms and the car sees 80mph for at least 80 miles a day.

Buster, I am pretty gentle on my car. I shift around 3K and try to drive as smoothly as possible (to save gas). Being in the DC Metro area, stop-and-go traffic is unavoidable. I am in traffic almost everyday. On the weekends, the car sees some highway mileage. Maybe you should try my mix for one OCI to see how you like it...couldn't hurt.
