Hi.
I live in Israel and drive a 2014 Honda civic.
The manufacturer recommend to use 0w20 / 0w30 / 5w30 full synthetic oils
The importer recommend the use of 5w40 full synthetic oils.
the temperature here get up to 40C (104F) over here. most of the time it's about 30C (86F)

So can i use the 0w20 in thoes conditions, because of the hiegher fuel consamption with 5w40 oil?
thank you in advance

Another 2014 Civic owner here. What does your owner's manual say? Some manufacturers have different specs for different geographical areas.

Here in South Texas it's hot also, I run Mobil 1 0W-20 full synthetic. 0W-20 is what my manual says to use.

Welcome to the forums!

The 0w20 or 5w20will be fine if you would like, it is used here in the hotter lower states like Texas Florida etc with good results. It will get slightly better MPG with a 20 weight oil than a 30 weight.

That being said if it makes you more comfortable to go with a 0w30 or 5w30 they will be fine as well.

Whichever weight you choose I would stick with a synthetic as the maintenance minder on those newer Honda can go over 10k miles.

I would definitely not use the 5w40 completely unnecessary.

Makes sure to check your oil often, especially during highway use, my Honda likes to use oil at higher extended rpm.

Given the choice between following the factory or dealer recommendation on oil I'd choose the factory.

I think Honda knows where Israel is and what the weather conditions are.

Honda's in the US in locations that would consider your weather a drop in temperature are doing just fine with Xw-20 weight oil.

Yeah, I'd stay with the 0W20 as Honda recommends. That's right OneEyeJack, it gets hotter in S.Cal and Phoenix. Often hovering into the 100/teens degs F
