UPDATE:
Ok, the car has been fixed and the dealership said it was the "upper intake manifold gasket". They said they checked all the other components that could have cause it, or be damaged by it, and that there were no problems. they said that, in this case, it was the gasket itself that was faulty.
I'll keep my finger crossed that they actually did do everything they said they did. The car runs fine. We'll see how the next 10,000 or so miles go!
