I have an '07 V6 M6 sedan. It's a great car. I have 185,000 Km on mine. Bought it new.

The only problem is that the manual transmission is a little wonky. If I go down a steep slope in 1st gear without using brakes it sometimes pops out of gear. Always has, always will. I've learned to not worry about it.

I plan to keep it until one of my grandchildren needs a car. They can learn to drive a manual. It's an important life skill.
Should check your engine mounts, that isn’t right. If those all look OK, try the GM Friction Modified Synchromesh fluid.

I bought the car new and it has popped out of gear from day 1. In fact the first transmission popped out of either 1st or 2nd gear if you just lifted off the accelerator while in gear. That 1st transmission was replaced within a couple of weeks. The 2nd transmission is better but it will still pop out of 1st gear if pushed (ie going down a steep hill slowly in 1st gear without using brakes). It has never popped out of 2nd gear. The dealer tried everything but could not get it to stop. I've just learned not to go down steep hills slowly in 1st gear. Otherwise it's fine.

My boss owned the local Acura dealership. I had a good off the record talk with their shop foreman and his opinion is that it is most likely a design issue. It shouldn't do it but it does.

I think my daily driving routine is what revealed the problem. I drove down a very long steep hill, slowly in bumper to bumper traffic every day on my way to work, so it got a regular opportunity to pop out. It doesn't always do it but often enough that it can be reproduced. It took me three tries to finally demonstrate it to the dealer's shop foreman - hands off the gear lever, no jerking, and foot off the clutch. He looked quite shocked when it happened. The 4dr V6 6MT cars are quite rare so there aren't thousands of owners to complain about the problem. I suspect they'll all do it under the right conditions but I'm one of the few that's identified the problem - and that's only because of that steep hill on the way to work.

So I'm pretty sure it's an internal transmission issue.

Thanks for the suggestion about the transmission fluid. It would be worth a try, but I won't hold my breath.

My K24 hasn’t burned a drop and it has 106k miles. I’ve only used 0w20 too.
You have it since new? I think regular maintenance is a big, if not only, factor. I bought mine without knowing their issues plus 100k on it. The oil was dirty and was always dirty after a short time. I changed it very frequently to clean it up (I’m a mechanic and had access to lift it and work on it as much as I wanted). But even after cleaning it up, it burned like crazy come 180k or so. I think the damage was done before I got it, but the oil loss wasn’t noticeable because I serviced it so often.

I am selling my moms 2008 Accord with the K24- it has 55K miles on it.

A lady that runs the local greenhouse has the exact same car, hers has 340,000 miles on it.

My mom never hardly drove and the lady cant stay out of hers... two totally different tales.

So i asked the lady what all she had done to it.. she said every 25K miles or so it needs new rear brakes. (my moms was the same way). Honda installed the pins in the rear caliper in the wrong holes... at least the swap fixed my moms.

I recently got new tires on my moms car and put the used ones for sale on Marketplace. The guy that bought them had a 2008 Honda Element.. it had 395000 miles on it. It looked like it had been through several wars.. he said it was a pilot car and he was the third owner. He left it running while we did the deal and it was just as quiet as my moms.

So i would venture to say that at least 2008 cars are good to go for super high miles. Whomever gets my moms car has a long road ahead of them.

Honda sets the back brakes more aggressively than the front as to not get the front dip when stopping hard. The first two years of the gen had AT issues, specifically not enough lubrication getting to the 1/2 gear, they fixed that. O ring on the power steering pump, you'll know it when it happens as it will make a noise. That's an easy, DIY fix, about 5 bucks and 10 minutes. The timing belt needs to be changed out at around 105K for the V6 but that is a common issue and because of the number of these on the road, do some research and you should be able to find a reputable shop to change it way cheaper than the dealer. Also change out the water pump, tension pulleys and belts while they are in there, you can get Aisin kits that cover all that. On my 06, daughters car now, the map lights on the ceiling have stopped working, found out that is a common problem, but I mean come on....car is 15 years old....some things just aren't going to make it that long.

Yes, I bought it brand new.

I service 3 1st gen Acura TSXs with the mighty K24
1 - Wifey's 2006 we purchased new in Dec 2006. Steady diet of Mobil 1 5w30 (a few 5w20) each 5K. 205K on the clock and does not burn a drop.
2 - A friend's 2007 TSX, bought from the local MBZ dealer almost 2 years ago, dealer serviced. 140K, burns about .5 qt per 5K OCI
3 - My sister's 2007 TSX (purchased new) that I gave to a friend after she got a new RX. 105K, quickie lube serviced (semi syn ?), goes through .5 to 1 qt between 5K OCI services.

By the way, these are great cars.

My folks have had an 06 I4 manual Accord since new, they're very good cars and quite reliable. I don't understand how people are saying they have excessive road noise unless they're comparing it to a Mercedes E-class or a full size Cadillac. They're quite, comfortable cars that make great road trip vehicles and are certainly not any louder than a comparable Toyota Camry. In my opinion Accord's have always had very good seats that are firm but comfortable so I would consider that one of the strong points of the car.

Agree on them being great cars. I wish I’d kept mine and put a jdm motor in it for about a grand and a days work. Although older, I like it better than my new Mazda 6 in many ways. I’d just have trouble trusting a used one without knowing service history again after my experience and finding out how widespread the oil burning is.

My BMW and my Tesla are a lot quieter than my Accord. I bought the Accord new and noticed it right away. I'm not concerned about it. There are trade offs with every vehicle. The Accord has a bit of road noise, but excellent acceleration (with the V6 6MT), handles well, and is very reliable.

Accords are for the most part harsh on roads, even those in upper trims but the V6 model

my Accord from the signature in EXL trim is very harsh too, decent car but hard and not designed for long trips; I know adding different tires, maybe changing the driver's, or have a LX model seat would help perhaps but still a bit uncivilized car i'd say

I've got 116,000 on mine now and it has never used a single drop of oil. Handles and drives like a dream, even at 90mph+. Super comfortable and excellent gas mileage. I wish I'd gotten the V6 model, but the I-4 gas mileage definitely has me spoiled.

Our Accord is great around town, and it's o.k. for short trips, but glad we have the Buick or the Impala for longer trips.
