The inventor's proposed mechanism is as an antimisting agent. The inventor then goes on to suggest that preventing the smallest droplets from forming during the injection process somehow prevents the most volitile compound from leaving the droplet. Given the concentration used and the extensive use of PIB as an anti-misting compound, I think that the first part of the mechanism is correct. I am not as sure about the second part.
