Maybe so (VSOT)...I just went the insane route and bought M1 10W-40 MX4T motorcycle oil for my VW 1.8T engine. Has all the anti-wear additives I would ever need and probably more. Last night I measured its volatility and it indeed was less volatile than Lubromoly 5W-40 (a mild-moderate difference) which was one of the best I've tested so far (and there have been many). The other good thing is it has only 1.0% sulfated ash in spite of all those anti-wear additives. That should keep the ring deposits down. Sorry for getting off-topic, I just realized it.
