I have a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado 3.5 5 cylinder, 80k on the clock. I want to go High Mileage oil,I like the extra additives. I think it will be Valvoline Maxlife blend or the Full Synthetic version. Does the Full Synthetic have any advantages? I will be in 90 degree plus heat. Thanks

I think it may be possible to extend your oil change interval somewhat longer with the Full Synthetic vs the blend. I have trouble finding the Full Synthetic around here. Where have you seen it and for how much? I would personally feel comfortable going about 5k miles on the blend and 7500 miles on the Full Synthetic, possibly longer if oil analysis shows oil is capable. In that heat go with the 10w30. No need for the 5W, at least in the summer.

Just go to Walmart and get a 5 qt. jug of synthetic. Pennzoil Platinum, Mobil 1, Mobil 1 Extended Performance are $19,21,26.

The Full Synthetic Maxlife here is $3.59 per quart at Walmart.

Edit: Forgot to mention....that is for the 5 quart jug....$17.97.
