Probably packaging & distribution for Mobil mainly?hmmmm "strengthens its long-term distribution relationship with ExxonMobil, the company said."
So has Warren been getting Exxon base stock?
Been discussed thar Premium Guard and Highline Warren have no association with each other. The new Mobil 1 filters look similar in construction to others under PGI, but doesn't mean PGI is involved. Highline Warren is also responsible for the warranty, not PGI.They will supply, not produce. The new Mobil 1 filters appear to be premium guard made.
I'd think more than that, since Highline Warren is responsible for the warranty as shown on Mobil's website. HW is a big middle man between Mobil and the factories that make the filters. M+H use to be that middle man. PGI not involved either.Probably packaging & distribution for Mobil mainly?
Do you know if "Premium Guard" is simply a middleman also - and all these filters come out of some number of contract manufacturers? That is very typical for commodity stuff in the industrial world. One or two companies make the same stuff for everyone.I'd think more than that, since Highline Warren is responsible for the warranty as shown on Mobil's website. Yeah, I seen where they are offering warranty. Mobil must see the value in using a 3rd party to handle filter products.I'd think more than that, since Highline Warren is responsible for the warranty as shown on Mobil's website. Mobil never handled their filters when M+H was the middleman. Mobil has probably had a middleman forever. Mobil got rid of M+H and replaced them with Highline Warren.Yeah, I seen where they are offering warranty. Mobil must see the value in using a 3rd party to handle filter products.
There are a lot of brand labels under PGI, so seems they are the middleman for those brands. The filter labeled "Premium Guard" is their own branded filter. I don't think every filter brand under the PGI umbrella is identical, but they are all very similar in construction, many could be made in the same factory. Each brand hiring PGI to supply filters for them most likely agree to what specs their filter brand will meet. PGI then finds factories that can manufacture those filters. Just like Highland Warren finds factories to make the new Mobil 1 per Mobil's specs.Do you know if "Premium Guard" is simply a middleman also - and all these filters come out of some number of contract manufacturers? I am pretty sure it is the same situation with Autozone and the STP name. Autozone just pays a name licensing fee to Energizer Holdings that owns the STP name but Autozone is on the hook for sourcing the filters they sell under the STP name and any warranty. Energizer Holdings has probably zero input in the specs, design and what applicable SKU's Autozone sells and is limited to just making sure the trademark is applied properly.I wonder if someone at Mobil 1 has a desk and a long time job, so they keep selling oil filters. Or maybe a few people. I guess their filters have some special specs but maybe not anymore. So why bother with oil filters, can’t be much profit in them.
