High Performance Lubricants PCMO Series

Reality of UOA's

"Because we’re an independent laboratory, we don’t recommend any specific oil brands. We always recommend using an oil grade recommended for your engine by the manufacturer and a brand that fits your budget. But beyond that, we find that brand makes very little difference. If there were an oil that consistently out-performed the rest of them, we’d have no reason to keep that information secret, but we just haven’t found that oil yet."

Blackstone's statement is one of general application, not specific attribution.

In short to moderate OCIs, brand often makes no difference whatsoever. In extended OCIs, brand can most certainly make a difference. Oils which are specifically formulated for extended drain intervals will excel past "normal" oils in this regard.

If extended drain intervals are their only edge, then an awful lot of Supertech can be bought with $200. For their other claims, let's see some credible 3rd party tests. I am being skeptical, just a force of habit. Maybe their claims are legitimate, maybe not. Let them stick around for a little longer and earn their spot. If they are truely great then nothing can stop them from getting big. I can't afford a leap of faith at the moment.

You know who also is great? Bugatti, Patek Phillipe, etc. Getting big has not been the focus of those folks. I don't know about HPL, but it seems the market they cater to, is the one they care for.

From reading on here, their oils have been field tested for millions of miles by fleets. And their manufacturing processes are held in high regard by members of this board who visited their plant, including Molakule.

Buying their products or not is a personal choice, but reputation matters.

It is not just a matter of extended drain interval performance.

Please go back and read the entire thread, because it’s clear that there are some large gaps in your understanding and you have made a great many inaccurate assumptions.

HPL has completely stopped the oil consumption in my Ford 5.4 V8 and is still cleaning lots of carbon material from the internals.

It’s run 20,000 miles in my Harley Road Glide and now I’m extending it out to 30,000 on this fill. That’s FIVE oil changes with the regular (and expensive) Harley oil I’ve just skipped which are due at 5,000 miles.

My wife’s Honda Rebel 1100 has a shared sump and the clunky shifting the DCT would do with another top quality motorcycle oil completely went away and now shifts surely and smoothly now that it’s using the MATV 10w-30.

The hottest part of my air cooled 212cc generator registers only 219 degrees at the cylinder head using it.

My MB GL450 is going for 20,000 on it currently which is a twin turbo V6.

It’s a great company making great products. The fewer oil changes I have to do means less waste oil, less time doing maintenance and more time camping or riding motorcycles with my family.
